Parental Discard™ is the sudden, unilateral erasure of a parent by an adult child, born 1985 to 2004, typically in their mid-20s to 30s, after a previously reciprocal, amicable, and involved relationship. It is characterized by abrupt total cutoff without contemporaneous, substantiated evidence of severe childhood abuse or neglect. No CPS involvement. No mandated reports. No documented patterns of harm.

The 1985 to 2004 birth cohort is the specific research cohort because their formative neurological development, specifically the PFC, coincided directly with the deployment of engineered addictive technology. They are the first generation whose developing brains were exposed to these systems. Parental Discard occurs beyond this cohort, but this is the origin population and the basis of the research.
