Screen Persona

The artificial, constructed identity adopted by the adult child to execute and sustain the Parental Discard. It is the false self that allows the child’s original reality and shared history to be overwritten. The persona drives the destructive actions used to justify the complete break from the parent and extended family, when the family does not agree with their narrative. Parental Discard

Addiction Has A Supply Chain.

The same thing heroin does. Just without the needle. This is Parental Discard.

▸ What Addiction Does To A Family

The heroin addict steals from a parent and tells the police the parent is the crazy one. The meth addict burns every bridge and says it was the bridges that burned them. The gambling addict loses the house and blames the spouse for locking the door.

The heroin addict gives up their kids. The meth addict gives up their kids. The digitally addicted adult child does not. They keep the kid and use the kid as a weapon.

They do not steal the silver. They steal the story. They rewrite the childhood on a stranger's feed for an audience of other adult children doing the same thing to their own parents.

They do not disappear for a weekend bender. They disappear for years.

They do not miss a single birthday by accident. They miss every birthday on purpose, and post about their peace.

They do not scream at their parent in a parking lot. They block the number and tell the world it was self-care.

It is the same addiction. It is the same family being buried. The only thing that changed is the drug.

Fifteen years ago, parents of substance abuse addicts were blamed for their children's addiction. In 2026, parents and families of digitally addicted adult children are being blamed the same way. The drug changed. The societal view did not.
