The heroin addict steals from a parent and tells the police the parent is the crazy one. The meth addict burns every bridge and says it was the bridges that burned them. The gambling addict loses the house and blames the spouse for locking the door.

The heroin addict gives up their kids. The meth addict gives up their kids. The digitally addicted adult child does not. They keep the kid and use the kid as a weapon.

They do not steal the silver. They steal the story. They rewrite the childhood on a stranger's feed for an audience of other adult children doing the same thing to their own parents.

They do not disappear for a weekend bender. They disappear for years.
